Returning to Dal Ni Pol I stopped to watch the dancer, Manuela Banini, recording one of her performances in the old city. The red of her dress against the turquoise green, so often used in the buildings, was beautiful. She has repeatedly returned to the city, building up a body of work that records her response to the architecture of the pols and the gradual deterioration and loss of some of the buildings and heritage of the city.
Her performances are a small part of a much larger and growing movement drawing attention to the loss of the cities heritage and building a case to get world heritage listed status for the old part of the city, with its unique architecture including the Mosques, Historic gates, Haveli's and collection of Pols or gated communities.
